Slope Rebels was set up by a select group of members who are passionate about radio control soaring. Sloping makes up the largest part of our flying, along with flat field and electric flight and we are based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. All the places we fly are public, and we have no field to rent and therefore there is no fee for joining the Slope Rebels. Membership is based on mutual respect and a shared passion for flying.
We encourage fliers with similar views to share their experiences and love of anything that flies.

Slope Soaring sites in Port Elizabeth: Lady Slipper

Port Elizabeth is blessed with wind all year round. The problem is that there are not that many suitable sites that one can utilize with the prevailing winds.

Lady Slipper is one of our best local sites and is approximately 1900ft above sea level. It can be flown on both our prevailing South Westerly and North Easterly winds.

After many meetings with Nature Conservation and our local telecommunications company, PEMAC finally obtained permission to use the site again after a two year shutdown. This was largely due to the efforts of Vic Hoxley and his committee. We do have to notify the authorities each time we wish to utilize the site, but it is worth the effort!
